2025 Organized Play, Release Schedule, & Online Tools
Ahoy & Howdy to our denizens of the Weird West and Théah. Today we wanted to express our plans for tournaments and retail releases for Doomtown and 7th Sea: City of Five Sails moving forward into 2026 along with digital platform support.
A Board Game Disguised as a Card Game
There are pros and cons to the expandable / living’ card game model. Both these games not only strategically play like a board game but are also released like one into retail; they very much feel like you are playing a collectible card game, without having to open booster packs and track down the cards you need. In allowing PBE the bandwidth to develop other projects but keeping with our core roots (our mission statement starts as ‘keeping Doomtown in the hands of its dedicated players’), we are continuing a once-a-year release model. This allows players to enjoy the new CCG boom reminiscent of the 90s while still being able to keep up with both our games and new players aren’t as daunted by the pure number of releases to catch up and join in on the fun.
For 2025, that means Doomtown: Whispers of War, newly released, will bring you the final chapter in the Deadwood saga, and 7th Sea City of Five Sails: Fate & Fortune, releasing at Gen Con, will be our first deluxe expansion, bringing a set of fresh leaders into the city conflict. In 2026, the Doomtown story will move to Dodge City, with brand-new outfits for each faction in the next set, while 7th Sea will bring more cards and a co-op mode, allowing for more variant play.

Organized Play Season, Conventions, & More Tournaments
While most of our players are of the ‘kitchen table’ variety, we recognize that many of you enjoy regular competition amongst your local groups and game stores. Tournament organizers and stores can purchase storyline kits for both games. Doomtown: Whispers of War kit will track the results of factions played and the winning faction. The tally of both will determine the nature of the posse that will bring the fiction and cards to life in the venture to Dodge City and may even result in creating a new dual-faction dude! The 7th Sea: Season 2 Speak of the Devil kit will track a vote from each player for a character from their faction. Those results will form Wilhelm Dunst’s coterie, reflected in the ongoing fiction and 2026 release. Results will be emailed to PBE, and events can be posted on our website’s revamped calendar and event submission pages.
Outside of the storyline season, we will be having generic kits posted on DriveThruCards so that players can host their own events throughout the year outside of our regular storyline kits that will coincide with new releases. This allows you to continue hosting events at your leisure and we encourage everyone to post them on our calendar and on our Discord.
For convention round-ups and salons, you can find us this year at Chaosium Con, Gen Con, Game Hole Con, and PAX Unplugged, along with PAGE kicking off 2026. Players who wish to host events at other conventions can contact PBE for prize support.
Doomtown Tombstone Destination Event at the O.K. Corral
NA/European Championships & Destination Events
The core annual main event for North America will remain at Gen Con while our European Championships this year for both games will not be gatekept behind a convention. The 7th Sea: City of Five Sails European Championship will be held at Patriot Games in Sheffield, tentatively scheduled for this May. The Doomtown European Championship will be hosted by the Doomtown Story Team and London players at a date and venue to be announced. Victors from these events will help design a card for the 2026 release of both games while all participants will get to influence the ongoing story. Our focus for these events has always been on comradery and we encourage players of all skill levels to attend.
Some players have asked about the return of Destination Events such as the ones previously held in Tombstone and Deadwood. We are coordinating with PEG for a possible return to this format for the upcoming 30th anniversary of Deadlands.
7th Sea BGA in Development
Digital Support
Our amazing fanbase and volunteers have kept digital options for both games going. The fully automated Doomtown Online has just added Whispers of War; the commands to use this set are still manual while the dev team works on implementing the new cards into the platform. 7th Sea remains on TTS (Tabletop Simulator) with the automated version being developed for BGA (Board Game Arena). We will continue to support these formats with online tournaments. The Doomtown Database is active for your card catalog and deckbuilding while the new 7th Sea Database is in Beta.
