What’s the game about?
7th Sea: City of Five Sails is an expandable card game where rival factions compete for control of an independent city teeming with opportunity and danger. Players assemble crews of daring duelists and savvy pirates, employ powerful schemes and sorcery, and engage in thrilling duels as they struggle for domination over the city.
The game’s distinctive Riposte, Parry, and Thrust combat system captures the excitement of cinematic swordplay, rewarding clever timing, calculated risks, and tactical decisions.

How did this happen!?
Eddie Mittelstedt is the epic software developer responsible for bringing the intrigue, swordplay, and adventure of Théah to one of the world’s leading online tabletop gaming platforms. Adapting 7th Sea: City of Five Sails for Board Game Arena was no easy undertaking, and through over two years of solo development, Eddie brought the expertise, creativity, and dedication required to produce a smooth, intuitive, and faithful adaptation that has surpassed all expectations! Pine Box Entertainment and the 7th Sea team are immensely grateful for Eddie’s efforts on this ambitious project.
Representing the 7th Sea rules team, Harold Medford worked closely with Eddie throughout development as a guide for more nuanced rules and interactions. As the project’s most prolific playtester, Harold helped Eddie identify bugs and refine the play experience. Harold offered invaluable knowledge and insight to polish the finished product we have today.
Of course, deckbuilding is at the heart of 7th Sea: City of Five. The ability to create and customize your own decks is essential the game, making a Board Game Arena-compatible deckbuilder a necessity. Thanks to Alazila, we already had the perfect solution! Alazilla developed a browser-based deckbuilder that allows players to customize their own library of decks and export them for use in Board Game Arena. Pine Box Entertainment and the 7th Sea team are tremendously grateful for her initiative, dedication, and outstanding work!
